However a burning oil smell may or may not be related, I don't believe any of the CCV hoses which may have failed are near exhaust components. 1281 code returns after clearing faults and attempting to start. I have tested every pin in the DME harness connector. - Good voltage at all coils and injectors. - Good voltage at always-hot pin and key-switch pin (when switched) - Good grounds. - Good fuel pump activation. I have the Haynes manual (which is just short of expensive fire starter paper) and it is saying that the ball joint torque setting is 122 ft lbs.
